Work Visas

Whether you're an individual seeking to live and work in Australia or a business aiming to fill critical skill gaps, work visas provide the legal pathway to meet your goals.

At Wings International, we’ve been supporting international workers and Australian employers for over a decade. Our experienced Registered Migration Agents assist with a range of visa options, including skilled visas, employer-sponsored visas, working holiday visas, and graduate visas.

We understand the complexities of the process and are here to guide you through every step — ensuring your application is strong, compliant, and aligned with current migration policies.

Skilled Visa

Skilled visas allow qualified overseas workers to migrate to Australia and help address skill shortages in the local workforce. This visa category includes:

Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)

Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491)

Each subclass has distinct eligibility criteria and requirements.

The Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) is designed for invited skilled workers and eligible Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport holders. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements outlined under this subclass.

The Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) requires applicants to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and receive an invitation to apply from a state or territory government. To qualify, individuals must have an occupation on the relevant skills list, hold a suitable skills assessment, and meet the required points test. This visa allows holders to live and work in Australia as permanent residents.

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491) is available to applicants who are either nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member. Applicants must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list, a positive skills assessment, and meet the points test requirements.

Employer Sponsored Visas

Employer Sponsored Visas allow Australian businesses to address labour shortages by sponsoring skilled overseas workers when suitable local candidates are unavailable. These visas are essential for businesses that require specialised talent to meet operational demands.

The main visa options include:

Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (subclass 482)

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 494)

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa (subclass 187)

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (subclass 186)

Each visa subclass contains specific streams with varying eligibility criteria and conditions.

The Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) Visa requires applicants to be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor. They must demonstrate the necessary skills and experience for the role and meet English language requirements. There is no age limit for this visa.

The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) (subclass 494) Visa requires applicants to be nominated for a relevant skilled occupation, have a minimum of three years’ work experience, hold a suitable skills assessment, and be under 45 years of age. Applicants must also meet the required English proficiency level and generally must work only for their sponsoring employer unless exempt.

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187) Visa is closed to new applications under the Direct Entry stream. However, eligible holders of subclass 457 or 482 visas may apply through the Temporary Residence Transition stream. Applicants must be nominated by an approved employer in regional Australia, be under 45, and meet the skills, qualifications, and English language requirements.

The Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Visa requires applicants to be nominated by an Australian employer, possess the required skills for the nominated role, have at least competent English, and meet relevant health and character requirements.

Graduate Visas

Graduate visas allow international students to live, study, and work in Australia after completing their studies.

This visa provides a temporary opportunity for eligible graduates to remain in Australia, gain practical work experience, and explore future pathways. To qualify, applicants must have completed a degree or recognised qualification from an Australian institution.

It’s an ideal option for international students looking to extend their stay and build a professional foundation in Australia.

Work and Travel Visas

When Australian businesses require individuals with highly specialised skills for a short-term project or assignment, the Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa (subclass 400) offers a practical solution.

This visa is designed for overseas applicants who possess unique expertise, knowledge, or experience that cannot be sourced locally. It is a short-term, temporary visa and must be applied for from outside Australia.

Ideal for urgent, skill-specific roles, the subclass 400 supports businesses in meeting immediate needs while ensuring compliance with immigration requirements.
